Joint Subcommittee on Active Traffic Management, ACP20(5) (ACP20(5))
Standing Committee on Traffic Signal Systems (Changed to ACP25 on 4/15/2020) (AHB25)

The next generation of traffic management systems and TMCs are expected to process larger amounts of data, make more decisions in real-time, automate their operation, and proactively manage and control traffic, coordinate, and share information with other systems and service providers to improve the safety and mobility of the facilities being managed. This workshop will discuss innovative technologies, successful practices and research to support agencies developing and using decision support subsystems appropriate to meet the needs of different types of legacy systems and TMCs. The topics to be addressed will include decision support subsystem requirements, design, components, and use of innovative technologies, system design implications.

This workshop and the topics to be discussed will build on themes explored at the TRB Workshop help in 2017 titled “Next-Generation Traffic Management Decision Support Systems”, which highlighted successful practices being used by agencies which are using these innovative technologies and methods.
